DATES FOR YOUR DIARY: 2018

AGM:  The Spring Meeting & AGM was held at Trinity Church in the Broadway on Wednesday 21st March 2018 at 7.15 pm for 7.30 pm start. The meeting included Formal Business, a short talk by Peter Eversdon Chairman of the London Forum, refreshments, followed by a Question & Answer session with our local politicians. The meeting finished about 10.00pm. We had some 80 members in attendance.

Bird Watch Walk was held on Sunday 29th  April 2018 - Starting from the Adam & Eve at 2.30 pm - The walk was led by Bob Husband of the RSPB and in addition to birds, we searched out some little known wild plants. Please note this is generally a slow walk, and stout footware is advised.

Summer Footpath Walk will be held on 10th June 2018 - Starting at 11.30 am from the Three Hammers pub.This will involve a 5-mile circular walk involving stiles - stout shoes are advised. We plan to go through the Totteridge Fileds Nature Reserve, along part of the Dollis Valley Green Walk, back up Horseshoe Lane and down past the Long Ponds to Finchley Nurseries, then back up to The Ridgeway.

Summer Picnic - Unfortunately, due to lack of response, we are cancelling the Summer Family Picnic planned for Sunday 1st July 2018.
It’s a shame, because it has been a great success in previous years.
We will be arranging events next year as part of our 70th anniversary celebrations, so watch this space.

Quiz Night: CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE - will now be on Saturday 3rd November 2018 gathering at 7.15 pm for a prompt start at 7.30 pm. The venue will be St Paul's Church Hall, The Ridgeway: Tables of 8 needed - join up with some friends: Supper, Bar, & Raffle. Tickets are £12.50 per person and are available from The Studio by email to contact@mhps.org.uk or telephone 020 8906 0769 and leave a message. Book early to avoid disappointment.

Winter Meeting: Thursday 22nd November 2018: This will be an evening meeting held at The Hub, Hartley Avenue - doors open 7.15 pm so come and have a coffe and pay your subs, or perhaps buy some new Chriistmas cards. The meeting will start at 7.45 pm when Chris Beney, chair of the Open Spaces Society (OSS founded 1865) will be giving a talk on the important work it does - including the protection of fotpaths, common land, green spaces and parks. OSS is the oldest National conservation body in the country. Please come a hear some of its history.

Christmas: MHPS Christmas items will be on sale for the festive season. 
These will be available at our functions nearer Christmas or available from The Studio by email to mail@mhps.org.uk or telephone 020 8906 0769 and leave a message. Christmas Cards on sale at £6 for 10 - local scene by local artist. Our Footpath Map is available from the Studio - with walks described, important local buildings, the countryside code, and a brief history of the Society. The map is a great improvement on the old one and is a bargain at £4.00.
